Candidate'S Letter of Request for Confirmation Instructions and Form
One of the requirements for Confirmation is that each candidate writes a letter of request.
The purpose of the letter is to:
1. State your desire to be confirmed and ask the Bishop to confirm you.
2. Express why you want to confirm your Baptismal faith in the Roman Catholic Church.
3. Set a goal for your faith journey for the years after you are confirmed and state them.
4. Include what you have done to prepare for Confirmation. (group service projects, individual service hours, retreats, service with your sponsor, Mass attendance)
5. It is important to think about the answers to the following questions and include these in your letters, along with anything you would like to share:
-What is most important to you about being Catholic?
-What do you feel is the most difficult part of being a young Catholic adult?
-How well have you participated in the activities and responsibilities asked of you by the parish?
-What has been the most meaningful part of your preparation and why?
-How have you matured as a Christian in the last year?
Writing your letter can be a positive experience in helping you organize and express your feelings and ideas about being confirmed. It should be done carefully. The Bishop and Father will read the letters and are very interested in what you have to say.
