Information for Sponsors and Sponsor Letter Form
Dear Sponsors,
Thank you for accepting the responsibility of being a Confirmation Sponsor!
You have a very important and rewarding role to fulfill.
This web page should provide you with the information you will need to fulfill your responsibilities as a sponsor.
1. Please write a Letter of Recommendation for Confirmation for your student. Begin the letter “Dear Bishop and Father, I am proud to recommend (first and last name) for Confirmation because….. Therefore I am happy to support (first and last name) request for Confirmation.”
In the letter, refer to the following:
-How you have saw the candidate grow in faith in the last year or two?
-In what way do you feel he/she has prepared well for Confirmation?
-What special qualities or talents do you appreciate and commend in them?
-Include your discussion about Faith (see item #2).
Please upload your letter by following the link below.
St. Ann Sponsor Letter Form
Sharing Faith is an important part of being a Christian to others; we come to a deeper realization of who Jesus is. For this reason, we ask each sponsor to visit with his or her candidate about the meaning and importance of Faith. Therefore:
2. Both you and the candidate are expected to meet sometime before Confirmation to discuss some of the following questions:
-What does Faith mean to you/me?
-How are you/I challenged in our Faith?
-What do you hope to gain from Confirmation?
-Reflect on stories about your Faith.
-What has the candidate learned this year?
-How did you (sponsor) feel when you were Confirmed?
-How has Faith changed your life?
3. You and the Candidate are to perform a type of Community Service together. Please include what service you did together in your letter. Here are a few ideas:
-Visit the Nursing Home or Shut Ins.
-Help at the Food Shelf.
-Spend an hour in the Adoration Chapel.
-Bring gifts up together at Mass and be greeters (please make arrangements at the Parish Office with Vicki 507-234-6244)
- Participate in the Church Choir
-Lector at Mass (please make arrangements)
These are just a few examples; you can certainly come up with your own ideas too.
We hope by doing these things you will get to know your Candidate better and support his/her desire to be Confirmed. Please continue to help guide your Candidate by practicing your Catholic faith to its fullest by attending Mass, receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist, giving service to others, and spreading the Word of God.
